I Have to agree, Stanglethorn is the most enjoyable area to play in. Just the way they did, the pirate theme, Adventure co., all the nice kitties and raptors. Pirates roaming about… Awesome. I love the way they also changed the area a bit with the new expansion. Starting from Lvl one again playing with Dugi’s demo guide. Absolutely fantastic. Thanx Dugi! 😉
My favorite zone is Winterspring. It has a great variety of both easy and challenging quests along with multiple types of mods to keep you interested.
Now since I am primarily a gatherer, Winterspring offers an abundance of skinning opportunities with cats and bears but also great Thorium resources as well! So it doesn’t seem to matter what I am in the mood for on any given day, I can likely do it in Winterspring
With each of my toons, I make sure that Winterspring is one zone that I don’t miss
Thunderbluff because of it’s landscape when I was 1st introduced to WoW!
i would say westfall, the none stop grinding in dead mines to get the starting gear sets for my toons and also to see how the new people in our guild would act on a raid.I still use deadmines as a tool for that.the buzzards and scare crows still hunt me in my sleep, also love the way the horde love to show up there and take it over every now and then.
thank you
Dugi for the
nightmares all
over again!!!!!!
My favorite zone (1-60) is Strangelthorn Vale. I love the quests, and the story. I LOVE the different creatures: Humen, Troll, Goblin, Beast, Elementals and Undeads.
Strangelthorn Vale got everything 🙂
I’ve always been a fan of Strangletorn Vale. I like the whole jungle ruin aspect. I also enjoy the Hemingway hunting quests. I love the flora and fauna visuals.
I think I have to go with Westhall. Loved it before Cataclysm and it’s even better now.
I left out the “why” – I have always found so much to do there and the quests are fun. I LOVE the murder investigation twist.
The area i always loved is Un’goro Crater. What i love about it is that it’s like a jungle! It feels like the only real area of wow to me… I always level my characters there!
I’ve always liked Molten Core (MC) raid. All the lava, stone and fire and dragons is what a raid is supposed to be like. 😀
I never did MC in vanilla, but I’ve done it several times in TBC and later. Always with great awe!
Cataclism has brought a lot of improvements to the low level zones, so I’m having trouble picking a favorite. I really enjoyed the changes to the Duskwood zone. The new story line makes more sense now, and is a little easier soloing. I had a lot of fun there leveling my new warlock.
hello my favorite zone is Stonetalon Mountains because I find all the quests fun, fast and easy. Mon to also as an insight into what the action is in the zone are: D
Favorite Zone: Thousand Needles
Reason: The reason why I like thousand needles is because of the changes that took place. They transformed the entire zone from a full land based zone to a partial underwater zone. The zone gives you a taste of what the new level Cata zone Vashj’ir would be like. With the underwater movement improvements, the ability to run along the bottom of the new made water filled zone. The introduction of the boat was also a great feature that was added that helped players move around at that low level. There was also one quest that had an enemy called the Hive Controller which I think is a reference to the Starship Troopers. The quests that had you betraying the Centuars because the goblins wanted you too was a good set of quests that I thought was an interesting touch, just to get some oil. The zone gives a lot of looks into the new cata 80-85 zones, even part of it gives a look at some stuff that’s in Hyjal, Deepholm, and Twilight Highlands as in the buildings that are built there in the twilight bulwark and twilight withering.
I love the new Redridge zone for the alliance side (dont play horde, sorry) The quest line is very unique and the most fun ive had in a long time. Especcially being a spy through the later bart of the quest line. Over all the dynamic and new content that is like none ive seen in wow, or any mmorpg for that matter, makes this zone my top pick.
Sunken Temple, was my first dungeon, and did it with friends made on WoW. We didn’t know anything about it. Probably wiped over 50x, but had a blast figuring out the dungeon’s layout and puzzles. Success was so sweet knowing we figured it out on our own, working together. Knowing what we do now, can’t see spending that much time on one dungeon again.
As Hord travel to the Badlands from Arathi Highlands post Cataclysm was over the top, the change in the Loch Modan Dam wall and the hard to get past guard system for the Alliance was white hot action and [if you have done it in the ‘pre-cataclysm’] you know that you have a team of over the top world crafters that have taken this story form to a very high level – this should be a movie!
I was originally going to pick Teldrassil, as I like the area and I like night elves, but then I started thinking about Uldum. I love the music and the cinematics are great. After doing the whole thing twice (multiple toons), I can now say that I really get the storyline and it’s cool; the idea that they have to rise up against their oppressors despite the difficulty in doing so is a good one. I find it somewhat interesting that Egypt recently had an uprising, as most people associate pyramids with Egypt.
For instances, I pick Culling of Stratholme. The main reason is the storyline behind it. Here, Arthas makes a very difficult decision; to kill civilians before they turn into ghouls. His decision creates a rift between him and Uther that is never healed. Jaina also sides with Uther, and Arthas is deeply pained by this. Finally, the music itself speaks to me of loss and difficult decisions.
The runner up for me would be Karazhan. The music in there is awesome and it really is a place that, even if going in with a toon much higher then what it was designed for (I went in as an 80 once), requires some strategy. I think my favourite part was when there’s a play, apparently having to do with Red Riding Hood.
Adding to last post, just realized, the instances I picked are above level 60; for 1-60 instances, I’d pick Blackrock depths; quite a lot of things to do in there.
Also, in case anyone who has never been to Culling of Stratholme would like to take a look at the storyline in video form, I think this is a good rendition of it:

Westfall. One, because I haven’t gotten much farther, and two, there’s a cottage along the shore overlooking the lighthouse where I can just sit and read, take a break from all the killing and try and figure out how things work. %-)
I like duskwood. The first time I wen through it reminded me of a giant haunted house. I ran a lvl 20 toon through and hept getting womped. But this was the first time that I had played a game with these kind of graphics. It lookes so real and was easier to get immersed into the game.
I reallike like Westfall because of how they played off CSI: Miami for the murders.
Hands down my favorite 1-60 zone is Winterspring. I remember the very first time I stepped foot out of Timbermaw Hold. The place felt cold it had swirling blizzards, high peaks and excellent quests. Every time I get a character around level 50 I am always looking forward to Winterspring. This could also be because I am Canadian, sometimes I can really relate to that zone(haha). The music is outstanding there. It always gives me goose bumps when I step into the zone. The mobs feel like they are placed correctly. There are lots of yeti’s, snow leopards and Saber cats. I am also a hunter and i remember taming a purple saber cat named Frost. I still have that pet today and whenever I call him from the stables it always reminds me of that first time I stepped into Winterspring! Winterspring was also the last zone I stepped in while I was in Azeroth. It was the last step for many players on their journey to Outlands. That is way i enjoy Winterspring. Endless vistas, snowly blizzards, fierce saber cats and tying it all up with a climatic soundtrack.
Thanks for reading 🙂
