I’m excited to announce that new Gear Advisor feature is now available with the latest update of Dugi Guides. This is a free update for ALL Dugi Guides users.
The Gear Advisor feature offers:
- Automated gear suggestion based on your class, level and spec.
- Advanced weight calculation to ensure you equip the best set for DPS, Tanking or Healing
- Quest rewards suggestion to help you pick the best gear for your class & active spec
- Easy one click gear switching by using Dugi Smart Set in your equipment manager
- Upgrade value comparison displayed in tooltip.
This is called a beta release because we’re not 100% finish with it but the core feature is ready for you to use and test. We’re still working on adding more customization options and also support for PVP set after 5.3 is released.
Once it is all complete we will offer more support and release a detailed instructional video on how the feature works and how you can customize it to your advantage.

Your guide(s)… AWESOME! This addition needs some serious work.
It suggested My lvl 90 DK put on a lvl 1 cloth fishing hat rather then his lvl 450 plate helm.
Sorry but had to disable the gear suggestions it keeps insisting I change gear to something that is not good for me. Been playing over 4 years so I have a pritty good idea what my toons need and don’t need.
How can I get rid of this “Dugi Smart Set” thing? I don’t want the button in my equipment manager and also it seems to be screwing with the way my bag addon sorts my gear into sets when they’re stored. Please add a way to disable it entirely. Thanks

I love the idea but I am using BOA gear and it keeps auto switching my gear out and I have even disabled the feature. If your going to add stuff like this please make sure the disable actually works. Every time I logon it will just swap them out now with out asking. I was using version(6.5.14 and just downloaded 6.5.16 hoping its fixed) Wish there was a feature to tell me that this was a BETA version too I would have kept the version I had and not messed with this version.

I think the Gear Manager is a great idea.
However, I find that even when I uncheck the boxes it still, on character login, equips what dugi guide suggest as better gear. And for some reason it thinks my pet battle safari hat is better than my teir helm. Twice I have gone into instances not realizing it (oops!).
Also for my DK I have her gear set up for frost duel wielding and it keeps equipping my 2H sha touched weapon. I keep spare gear in my bags, and it gets rather frustrating when my gear is changed out by dugi’s guide.
Though for some toons I appreciate the equipment manager set up in dugi’s guide for some I do not. Is there a way to turn the equipment feature off for some toons even while still using the guide? Un checking the boxes has not worked. Even turning off the guide (though having it loaded) does not seem to solve the re-equipping problem. Help!
@Go4it, Update to the latest build and it should fix auto equip bug.

1. Make sure WoW is closed
2. delete your Cache folder in World of Warcraft\Cache
3. Load WoW
4. Type “/console reloadui”
to fix the hat issue.

Add your 2H to the ban list.

Dugis, love the addition but I do have two requests.
Switching between Two Smart Sets:
I like the smart set, but when I change specs, the smart set tries to rebuild. Can there be two smart set, one for main spec and one for off spec?
Theory Crafting Stat Adjustment:
Another suggestion would be the ability to tweak the stats toward personal use – kinda like pawns’s customization screens.
it would be nice to replace pawn with dugis – dugis is one addon that I will never live without 🙂
I have noticed some of the odd behaviors, like it recommending replacing 522 gear with a 476 piece. both are right for the spec – 522 with better stats… I don’t have the gear or the stas to report – so don’t worry about this complaint. just chalked it up to beta.

Set it to Active Talent so that it changes automatically when you change spec.
@Peroditius, i have the same problem it keeps trying to put on 456 pvp over my 502 items!!
Wish you could have a separate button that could be put on game screen to click when one wanted to use this feature. So annoying when it pops up all the time. Or, at least have the popup be able to popup in different location.
@echoblue, Go to settings > gear set to disable it.
How do you turn this off??? Its worthless right now and keeps changing my items with less optimal gear. It keeps trying to change my helm to the level 1 Safari Hat, WTF is that? Do some research on Mr Robot before you try this out.
@Eric, don’t be insulting. It’s likely that your cache is corrupted. Delete your cache folder and type /console reloadui in the game.

Love this beta. Is there any way you can have a suggest for need instead of greed in a dung run for rolling on equipment.
Is there any way I can get my self-created Equipment Sets back? I have a set for Fishing, PVP, and PVE, and now they are gone. The only Equipment Set left is the Dugi Smart Set. I’ve unchecked the Gear Settings in the Dugi Settings, reloaded, and my sets didn’t come back. I like the concept of the Gear Advisor, but I want to wait until it’s out of beta; there’s still some issues.
@Rick Barnes, the Gear Advisor won’t delete any of your existing set so they must have been deleted some other way. You will need to create them again.
@Dugi, nvm, they came back. When I first logged on, they were missing. I’m guessing they returned when I changed zones. This had never happened before the Gear Advisor update, so my assumption, since the Dugi Smart Set was the only one showing up, that it had something to do with the Gear Advisor. Thanks for the quick response.

Really love the fact you included the highest vendor value icon–that will be a timesaver for my leveling alts, who are usually in heirlooms or crafted gear and thus very seldom find upgrades as quest rewards.

I like the Gear Guide but I wish it would ignore the cloak I don when I wish to teleport back to Stormwind City. Since the specs on that cloak are non-existant, it never shows up in the “Do you want to add this item to the ban list”. As soon as I use the cloak, I put my regular cloak back on, although I occasionally forget to do so. Great update for a great guide. Keep up the good work.
@Jim Wilkey, Any item should show a prompt. Make sure Settings > Gear Set > Show Equip Prompt is enabled. Also try clicking the reset Ban List button.
I love the new feature while leveling. When leveling a toon, I often go hours without taking advantage of drops that I pick up. Plus, I eat up valuable slots hanging onto gear until I decide to either auction, sell or use it. Now, I can immediately make a quick decision without having to think about it. Then I can get rid of what I don’t want, that much faster. Thanks for the feature!
I think it’s a great new idea with this Gear Advisor. However I would like it to function for dungeon drops as well. That way I wouldn’t have to open my character screen in dungeons to check if that sword or chest that a boss drops is better than the one I have equipped.
